new phone : samsung galaxy s4 mini

Finally I got rid of my 2 years old Samsung galaxy W i8150 thanks to it's laggy-ness, small RAM, small storage, and it's INCAPABILITY to upgrade to a newer android version. (believe it or not.. its still stuck at gingerbread = = )

(Incase your wondering how it looks like..)

it's black in color and it's bulky.

2 YEARS AGO..

it used to be a very good mid range phone. (don't compare it to iphone la)

now it's plain suckish keeping up with the technology of other samsung phones , sorry to say that..

My galaxy W was very good at the beginning but slowly lags afterwards and then recently during this year.. it freeze most of the time till I have to take out the battery and reset the clock = = which is a very annoying thing to go through. I've even changed the battery once, cause I overcharged it. 

(Tip/Warning : when charging your phone, DO NO OVERCHARGE IT because sooner or later the battery will have a 'bloated' shape and when you use the phone it'll show 80% battery but then it'll suddenly drop to 30% battery level or low battery or battery dead. Experienced it with my galaxy W. Also, to ensure longer battery life, its best to charge your phone when it's totally dead and not use it when it's charging. My mom practice this habit and her iphone 4s battery life last longer than other people's iphone 4s that I know. It's just a little theory of mine.. )

I'm a person that rarely play games on my phone, most of the time I would just use Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and other social medias on my phone. Web browsing, taking pictures, selfie, listening to songs are also some of the stuff I do with my phone.. So I was finding a phone that could meet my requirements. Also, I don't fancy big screen phones. I prefer smaller phones like Iphone size.. where I can use with only one hand comfortably and it's able to fit into my pocket. 

There are a few phone that some people recommend to me..

IPHONE 5/5s

Iphone is a NONO for me, why?

#1. Out of my budget range. FREAKING EXPENSIVE DA HELL?!

#2. transferring files very troublesome

#3. Not much free apps

Samsung Galaxy S4

#1. Out of my budget range also. :( around RM1699

#2. Consider on the big size 

even though I like the specs.

Sony Xperia C/SP/Z

#1. Battery not replaceable ! !

#2. A bit on the big size too.. (my pocket bulge when I put it inside)

#3. Specs abit lower compare to samsung phones

Samsung Galaxy S3

was thinking between this and Galaxy S4 mini but I decide not to buy

#1. S3 is gonna obsolete soon

#2. It has a smaller RAM (somehow I want a bigger RAM over sharper resolution screen -_-|| )

After 2 nights of SERIOUS THINKING..

Heck it I'll just go for S4 mini then.. HAHA!

The specs..

The Samsung galaxy S4 mini screen resolution is much lower compare to the S3 which is 1280x720. But I feel that Samsung shouldn't have put the resolution that low (one downside of it). But since I switch from a much much lower resolution Galaxy W (480x800), I don't really see much different..well..maybe.. yet..

So.. here's my S4 mini..I got it for about RM950 since I trade in my galaxy W.

Got a white one cause that's the only color that's left.

 

 

One major problem that I faced with my S4 mini after installing instagram. Since I'm an active instagram user, I've always wanted to use the instavideo since my galaxy W isn't able to do so.. So, I thought the S4 mini could do it, but to my disappointment it isn't like what I expected. :(

 This is what happen when I use Instavideo with my S4 mini. I can use it, BUT as you can see the resolution is TERRIBLE. Focusing doesn't help too..

As compare to the normal camera mode, it's clear and no blurry vision.















As for the front camera, the resolution isn't that terrible as the rear camera for Video mode. BUT! It appears to be zoomed in and make the 'object' look bigger.

Compare to the normal camera mode for the front camera, it's completely fine. *The distance that I took was the same.

LUCKILY ! I found a solution to help me instavideo again! but it's a longer process. which is go to the gallery and upload any video taken using the normal camera video mode.

The battery is ok. It last me for about 1 1/2 days. Of course I don't do my activities continuously.

So far I'm happy with it. No lag YET (maybe because I'm conscious about it, idk).
Ohhhh~ I also brought a casing for my S4 mini :)
A tiffany blue (close enough) casing ^^ brought it at Pasar Malam (night market) for RM20 , definitely the cheapest among the other stalls there and the one and only color left :')
