1. Change of Venue TWICE
Initially the Glowrun was suppose to take place in Menara Kuala Lumpur. Which is why many participants like me is willing to join this event. Because who wouldn't want to have a run in the heart of KL? Plus there's better public transportation (eg. Monorail, Bus, LRT) to go down to KL.
Next, they change the venue to Dataran Merdeka.
And until 15 May 2015 which is 2 days before the day of the run, they've upload an official statement on the final venue which is held at Setia City Park.
Seriously? last minute change in venue? Who in the world likes that?! I know most of us don't.
From the initial date 18 April 2015, the management delayed the run to 16 May 2015 due to the changes in the venue (as seen from the picture). But what's really upsetting is that the rest of the participants had already booked that day (18 April) to join this run and then all the sudden the management decided to change the date which cause most of the participants to be unable to join on 16 May due to appointments or personal reasons. Many of them requested for refund and got it while some complaint in FB says that they're unable to get the refund. I don't see why the management cannot give them the refund ! You (the organizer) promise to the participants that it'll be held on 18 April, but that promise is broken once you've come up with a statement saying the date is change. It is unfair to those who are not able to make it and isn't it clearly your fault? And a good company/organizer would GENUINELY feel bad about it and would be willing to refund to participants who are unable to attend. Plus you should release an official statement on the refunding process for those who wish to refund, but NO.. among all the statements release from you guys this one is missing.
3. Unprofessional way of handling FB comments
If you check out their FB page (which I predict will be deleting soon), you wouldn't miss out the tons of negative comments posted over there complaining about how bad the management is. And apparently, most FB users claim that there's over 400+ of negative comments which have 'gone missing'. Well, obviously they've someone so semangat to deleted those hateful comments ! I know you want reputation, but is this how u handle a crowd of angry FB users? I guess not..
4. CHAOS at the Finishing Line
For those of you who went to the event last night, I bet the most chaotic moment was during the collection of certificate and medal, am I right? Trust me, I've been squash by mostly tall and sweaty men just to collect that cheap plastic medal. Dear management, you should have open like several counters and make us line up to collect our cert. and medal together instead of letting us flock like vulture around those 2 poor fellas who are distributing the medals. PLUS you guys should have untangled the medals way before we come to collect it ! That's why it was so chaotic !
5. Unorganized route
Organizers should take participant's safety to account. But what happened is that yesterday, we were running on the route beside moving cars, crossing the route that have moving cars and you call that safety?! Personally, I feel bad for motorist having to stop for quite awhile to let thousands of people to cross the route. Shouldn't the route be blocked off for the participants to run safely? Verdict? The route plan sucks !
6. Miscellaneous
I strongly suggest that during the collection of race kit, every single bag should have like a small amount of glow powder or even like 2 light stick instead ! Then it would be fair and equal right?! Plus, where are the music you claim to have during the run?!
Overall I gotta say the run itself was ok but the downside is that the organizer/management sucks. See for yourself here.
Hopefully the organizers can learn from their mistake if not please stop whatever you're doing.
PEACE !
